Maloney takes women’s 800-m title at Barbados Grand Prix

Vincentian Shafiqua Maloney, showed her class in the women’s 800 metres at the 2026 Barbados Grand Prix, staged at the Usain Bolt Sports Complex on Saturday, July 4.

Maloney outran the field by some distance, doing so comfortably in a time of 2:06.30. She was some six seconds faster than the second placed Ashlyn Simmons, whose time was 2:12. 78.

While Maloney was ahead of her field, fellow Vincentian Amal Glasgow, was fifth in the men’s 400-m.

Glasgow timed 46.12 seconds in the one-lap event. He trailed Justin Robinson, 44.99-s; De Sean Boyce, 45.78-s; Shakeem Mc Kay, 45.92-s; and multi-Olympic medallist- Kirani James- 46.08-s.
