Senior National Men’s Basketball team named
THE STVINCENT AND the Grenadines Basketball Federation (SVGBA) has released a 13-member team to represent the country at the Caribbean FIBA Americup 2029 Pre-Qualifying Tournament that takes place in Georgetown, Guyana from July 8 to 13, 2026.
The team is Darreo Glasgow, Opong Bramble, Brendan Smart, Shad Thomas, Hosea De Freitas, Phillip Lawrence Ricks, Chrisford Telesford, Shamore Charles, Sean Baptiste, Tyler Fraser all of whom are based overseas.
They are joined by athome talent in Jermaine John, Steveon Taylor and Elton Joseph.
Justin Scott is the head coach; assistant coach, Randolph Williams; manager, Sabrina Mitchell; Shirman Jacobs, physiotherapist; team doctor, Rico Audain; social media manager, Ella Sutton; with Suzette Jackson, head of delegation.
The squad was announced at a media conference held June 24,2026, at the office of the SVGBF at New Montrose.
St Vincent and the Grenadines opens its campaign on July 8, versus Grenada; July 10 they play against the Cayman Islands; Haiti on July 11; and Barbados July 12.
The other groups are host Guyana; Antigua and Barbuda; Dominica; Bermuda; and the Turks and Caicos Islands.
Prior to their journey to Guyana, the Vincentians will assemble in Trinidad for a four-day camp.
Only the group winners advance to the next phase of the championships.
The last such championships were held in 2018.
