Amaia Edwards wins triple national titles
AMAIA EDWARDS COPPED three titles when Team Athletics SVG hosted the 2026 edition of the Wendell Hercules National Championships on June 20 and 21, at the Diamond Track Facility.
Representing X- Ceed Sports Club, the beam pole Edwards, who in 2025 won the women’s long jump and triple jump, repeated that feat, but went one better by taking gold in the high jump.
She took the long jump with a best leap of 5.52 metres and the triple jump with a distance of 11.70-m.
In adding the high jump, Edwards cleared the bar at 1.57-m.
The three titles crowned off a good season for Edwards who took gold in the high jump in the Open/ International category of the Whitsuntide Games held in Grenada last May.
Before that, at the 2026 St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College’ SVGCC’s Invitational Track and Field Finals on March 27, Edwards topped the Female category with 35 points after winning gold and setting new marks in the female high jump, triple jump and long jump events.
For the latter, Edwards was specially rewarded for her sporting exploits when the SVGCC held its amalgamated Awards Ceremony on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at the Villa Campus.
