Playaz bounces off Youth Basketball Summer Camp on July 27
PLAYAZYOUTH ACADEMY has set July 27 to August 7, 2026 as the period for its annual two weekYouth Development Programme and Summer Camp which uses Basketball as a platform. A release from the Academy states that the camp, to be held Monday to Friday, at the Lowmans Leeward Hard Court, will run from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. daily, and is open to boys and girls ages 5-years old and over.
The youth development programme uses basketball, mentorship, and life skills sessions to positively impact young people, the Academy notes, and the 2026 edition aims to build on previous successes.
“Past sessions have featured topics such as STD awareness in collaboration with the Ministry of Health; conflict resolution and anger management with the Royal Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force; Life Behind Bars with His Majesty’s Prisons; bullying awareness with Dr. Jozelle Miller, and financial literacy for youth- with support from financial institutions such as GECCU Ltd., St. Vincent Co-operative Bank, TCCU and others.”
For 2026, the Academy plans to have new speakers, expanded development sessions and a continued focus on helping young people make positive choices.
President of PlayazYouth Academy, Orlando Fergusson, said the camp remains an important part of the Academy’s mission.
“Through this camp, we are not only teaching basketball. We are creating a space where young people can learn discipline, build confidence, develop respect for others and be guided in a positive direction,” Fergusson is quoted in the release as stating.
There is a registration fee of $100, and parents and guardians are encouraged to register early, as spaces are limited. The fee helps to cover transportation and refreshments provided for registered participants.
