South Rivers Methodist retains Primary Schools’ Cricket title
SOUTH RIVERS METHODIST School retained the top spot in the 2026 SVG Inter-primary Schools Developmental Cricket Competition, when they fended off a strong challenge from Owia Government School in the final, which took place at the Park Hill Playing Field on Thursday, June 11, 2026.
Asked to bat first, Owia Government got through a difficult start to total 219 for 6 in 20 overs, with Sommer Chance scoring 14.
Owia Government were also slow at the start of their innings. They got into stride through the middle overs, but fell nine runs short at the back end, finishing on 210 for 7 when their 20 overs ran out. Amallie Lavia stroked 29 not out, while J’ Shawn Henry added 19. Allison Dalzell grabbed 4 for 31 to curtail the progress of the Owia Government’s batters.
In the third-place playoff, Georgetown Government had the better of Biabou Methodist by 105 runs. Georgetown Government tallied 249 for 5 in their 20 overs. Zorano Lewis scored 31. Biabou Methodist replied with 144 all out in 20 overs. Jaysean John was the chief destroyer bagging 6 for 7 in 3 overs.
The top run scorer and MVP of the tournament was Amallie Lavia of Owia Government. Lavia made 239 runs.
The leading wicket taker was Uzziah Holder of the Dorsetshire Hill Government School with 19 wickets.
The best wicket keeper was Sommer Chance of South Rivers Methodist, while the best female player was Shania Shallow, also of South Rivers Methodist.
Taking the award of MVP of the final was Steven Glasgow of South Rivers Methodist.
