Shafiqua Maloney delivers season best at US Track Meet

St Vincent and the Grenadines’ top female athlete Shafiqua Maloney, notched up another accolade when she pouched the 800 meters title at the Lone Star Grand Prix staged at the Texas A & M College in Texas, on Saturday, June 6, 2026.

Crossing the finish line after the two laps, Maloney stopped the clock at 1:57.34. to beat Jamaica’s Kelly Ann Becker into second place, and the USA’s Victoria Bossong, who was third.

For Maloney as well, it was her season best. The Lone Star Grand Prix was the first US World Athletics Continental Tour Gold Track and Field event for 2026. Maloney is set to compete at the Los Angeles Grand Prix on Saturday, June 13, 2026, as she ramps up her outdoor season.
