Team SVG second best in ANOCES U-23 Men’s 3 x 3 Basketball
TEAM STVINCENT AND the Grenadines faltered at the final hump on Sunday, May 17, 2026, in the inaugural Association of National Olympics Committee of Eastern Caribbean States (ANOCES) Under-23 Men’s 3 x 3 Basketball Tournament, thus having to settle for second place.
Facing St Kitts and Nevis in the title decider at the Multiplex Sports Facility in Road Town, Tortola, British Virgin Islands, the Vincentians’ effort saw them going under 15-20.
The Vincentian team of Elroy Joseph, Adrian Sam, Maxron Dublin and Aquando Henry entered the final after ousting previously unbeaten Grenada in the semi-finals, 18-12.
Stashed in Group B of the six-team tournament, St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) got going on Saturday, May 16 with a 14-12 victory over Dominica. However, the Vincentians were humbled by St. Kitts and Nevis 8-21 in their second match. Finishing the group with one win and a loss, St Vincent and the Grenadines advanced to the semifinals, as Dominica also lost to St Kitts and Nevis, 11-21.
In Group A, Grenada defeated St Lucia 20-16 and the British Virgin Islands, 21-14; whilst the British Virgin Islands also stopped St Lucia 21-14.
St Kitts and Nevis defeated the British Virgin Islands 21-10 in the other semifinal.
The British Virgin Islands took third place with a 1713 win over Grenada, and Dominica got past St Lucia 16-14, to finish fifth and sixth respectively.
Second placed St Vincent and the Grenadines was accompanied by Coach Vasha Adams, and executive member Tevin Bynoe who participated in the referee and technical training.
