Grenisha Thomas breaks longstanding Hurdles record
THE STVINCENT AND the Grenadines women’s 100 meters Hurdles stood for 34 years, with Yvette Haynes being that title holder, but Grenisha Thomas has eclipsed the 1992 mark.
Haynes timed 13.92 seconds in 1992, but Thomas first broke the record when she ran 13.82-s during the heats of the 2026 Big South Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships held from May 11–13, 2026.
Competing for High Point University at the Vert Stadium, North Carolina, USA,Thomas further lowered the record to 13.45-s in the final. Her clocking was enough to earn her a silver medal.
Apart from her record- breaking efforts, Thomas took gold in the 400-m Hurdles, stopping the clock at 58.64-s.
She also placed third in the 100-m in 11.54-s, and copped gold in the 4x 400-m and silver in the 4 x 100-meters.
