Sparta to get first taste of topflight Football
AFTER YEARS OF Labouring in the vineyard with nothing to show, Sparta will finally get an opportunity to have a shot at the top football competition here in St Vincent and the Grenadines- the Vincy Soccer Premier League (VSPL).
This after the South Central Windward unit, reached the tier two final of the 2025- 2026 Club Championships of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation (SVGFF).
A 2-1 win over Richmond Hill in the semifinals on May 6, at the Brighton Technical Centre, earned Sparta the right to a promotion.
Sparta’s goal came from Tyrone Dalzell, while Jokiyah Nanton replied for Richmond Hill United.
Joining Sparta as the promoted club to the next edition of the VSPL is SV United.
No stranger to the top tier, SV United got their immediate return by defeating Glenside Ball Blazers 4-1 in the other semi-final game.
For SV United, Davarno Sutton had a brace, and there were one each from Kadeem Duncan and Akram Edwards. D’Andre Smith scored for Glenside Ball Blazers.
Sparta and SV United will vie for the tier two title on May 23, 2026 at the Brighton Technical Centre from 8:00 p.m.
Richmond Hill has already secured third place with a 5-4 win on penalties versus Glenside Ball Blazers, having played to an exciting 5-5 draw in regulation time.
