Irie Travel/ Comsports bounces back
Irie Travel/Comsports emerged as team champions when the 2026 Sean Stanley Table Tennis Academy Business Houses Tournament wrapped up on Thursday, April 30, at the West St George Secondary School in Belair.
Irie Travel/ Comsports, dethroned last year by Civil Aviation, came up trumps this time by defeating the vivacious cheerleading team, Pan American Life Insurance in a humdinger 3-2 finish.
Thus, it marked the third year in succession that the tournament was decided in the final game.
Irie Travel/ Comsports’ win was assured as Corbett Crick defeated Mark Charles 12-10, 7-11, 14-12; Davon Cato defeated Alphonso Richards 11-8, 11-5, and Crick beat Richards 11-3, 11-13, 11-9.
The drama was conspired with Duane Allen trouncing Kenneth Bibby 11-7,11-7, and Mark Charles defeating Davon Cato 11-4 , 3-11 ,11-5, to bring the final, 2-2.
It was left up to Crick to end the woes and relieve the expectations of both teams.
To get to the finals Irie Travel/Comsports beat G&T Enterprises 3 games to 1, and Pan American Life also ousted RSVG Police 3-1.
G &T Enterprise took the third place.
The result of the 2026 team finals mirrored that of 2024 and 2025.
In 2024, Comsports defeated RSVG Police 3-2 , and Civil Aviation had a 3-2 win over Comsports.
Civil Aviation did not compete in this year’s edition.
