New Football Match Commissioners certified
The St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation (SVGFF) now has at its disposal a set of certified match commissioners.
A two- day training session, held on April 24 and 25, 2026, at the Brighton Technical Centre and facilitated by Concacaf’s representatives Patrick Beckles and Joyann William, realized the up-tick in the expertise of the personnel.
During the 15 hours of the training workshop, the match commissioners were reinforced about the profile, deportment, role and duties of match commissioners, completing match reports, pre-match ceremonies and protocols, among other procedures involved in the execution of football matches.
They also had their work practically assessed as match commissioners were in attendance during a fixture of the Vincy Soccer Premier League, also at the venue on Friday, April 24.
With the workshop completed, Beckles and Williams expressed a desire to see the personnel on the regional scene executing their duties as match commissioners.
President of the SVGFF Otashie Spring, noted that the workshop was timely and fulfilled some of the plans in the overall scheme of development for the organization.
“It was an exercise that provided an opportunity whereby persons are certified and better aware and educated to their roles, responsibilities and functions of a match commissioner, that can be looked at on the platform for Concacaf international matches, both club and nation,” Spring stated.
He projects that persons possessing such certification can carve out a career as a match commissioner.
The pool of personnel attending the workshop included current match commissioners who officiate at competitions under the auspices of the SVGFF, as well as persons just getting into the craft.
