Lady Heat ends campaign with a win
ST VINCENT and the Grenadines’ senior women’s team, Lady Heat, eked out a 1-0 win over St Lucia last Saturday, April 18, 2026 in their final Group A encounter in the Concacaf Qualifiers at the Darren Sammy Cricket Stadium in St Lucia.
Karesha Iton scored the lone goal of the match in the 14th minute when she sailed a long free kick over the top that found the St Lucian goalkeeper unable to negotiate the bounce.
Lady Heat thus concluded its participation in the tournament with consecutive wins.
Four days prior to engaging the St Lucians, Lady Heat had beaten the US Virgin Islands, 1-0 here at the Arnos Vale Playing Field.
The Vincentian lasses scalped two wins, and two losses and had a third-place finish in the group.
Their back-to-back wins were recompenses for two large margins of defeat versus Mexico and Puerto Rico, losing 0-14 and 0-10, to the two opponents, respectively.
Meanwhile, St Lucia ended its campaign losing all four matches and ending fifth place in Group A.
Mexico topped the Group with 12 points, ahead of Puerto Rico on nine points.
The United States Virgin Islands ended with a solitary win, and three points placing fourth.
