Junior Squash players come up trumps at Nationals
The stock of locally based Squash players was solidified when the St Vincent and the Grenadines Squash Association hosted the April 8-11, 2026 Tus- T Water National Easter Junior Championships at the National Squash Centre, located at Paul’s Avenue.
Coming to the fore in the Girls Under-11 and Under-13, was Gabriella Ellis, who became a double winner.
Meanwhile, Caeli George took the Girls Under-17 title, and her elder sister Ciara George won the Under-19.
The winners in the Boys segment were Zavin Garrick, who snapped the Under-13 title, with Ethan Webster bossing the Under-15, and five-time Caribbean Junior Squash champion Jayden George, scalping the Under 17 and Under-19 titles.
Apart from the winners, the four day championships saw participation of Chloe Samuel, Lia Martinez, J’ Nae Sandy, Caeli Samuel , Naira Skye- John, Maria Chapman, Heidy Gonzalez Hernandez, and Zoe Martin, in girls play, whilst Savante Padmore, Andy Antrobus, Roshawn Paul, Deron Lewis, Aiden De Freitas and Jaydon Williams were the players in the boys segment.
The closing ceremony saw the top three in each category being rewarded and also heard brief addresses from sponsors and government personnel.
Among them were, President of the SVG Squash Association Amber Glasgow, along with Gail Hillocks of title sponsor- Tus-T Waters, and Patricia John, representative of the Bank of SVG, who brought remarks from their respective companies.
Minister of Youth, Sports, Culture and Creative Industries Kaschaka Cupid, and Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation and Sustainable Development- Dr Kishore Shallow, also addressed attendees at the closing ceremony.
