Two Vincentians named in Windwards Under-19 training squad

DESPITE THEIR bottom of- the-table placement in the WINLOTT Windward Islands Under-19 Cricket Tournament, St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) was able to secure two picks in the provisional 20-man training squad. The two Vincentians on the squad are Kodi Grant and Devontae McDowall.

Chairman of selectors, Craig Emmanuel said following a training camp to be held in SVG later this year a 14-man squad and six reserves will be selected. The selection of Grant and McDowall took place following the conclusion last Sunday April 13, of the 2025WINLOTT/WICB Under-19 Cricket Tournament held in Grenada.

Following Sunday’s sixth and final round of matches at the Tanteen Playing Field where Dominica and Saint Lucia played each other; and at Progress Park where St Vincent and the Grenadines and Grenada battled, the squad and top performers were announced.

Devonte McDowall was named the man of the match in the SVG versus Saint Lucia game at the Tanteen Playing Field on Monday, April 7, which the Vincentians won by 34 runs. In that match Mc-Dowall top-scored with 74, rescuing his team from a precarious position of 123 for 9. He was the last man out with the score on 201.

McDowall then returned with the ball to finish with figures of 1 for 45 in the four overs he bowled.

Kodi Grant took man of the match honours in the game between Grenada and St Vincent and the Grenadines, which the Vincentians won by six wickets.

Grant had a successful game with both bat and ball taking 3 for 29 in 9.1 overs, and then scored 29 not out, which included 2 fours.

The other top Vincentian performer was wicket-keeper, Jawayne Adams who had the most dismissals by a wicket-keeper in the tournament. He finished with 7 dismissals – 6 catches and 1 stumping.

At the end of the tournament, St.Vincent and the Grenadines finished in the cellar position with 4 points from two wins and 4 losses from the six matches played. The Vincentians scored 901 runs in those six matches, with 1,168 runs scored against them.
