Masters Football at Calliaqua gets going from this Sunday

After years of organizing their Christmas Day small goal Football competition, the FC Sunday Sweaterz is venturing into an Over-40 Masters Tournament.

Set to open this Sunday, March 16, 2025, the 11 vs 11 tournament will feature 10 teams in two groups.

Heading up Group A is Vintage Gold, along with Sion Hill, Calliaqua, Premium Products Richmond Hill and Largo Height.

Layou, OTR Old Boyz, On Trac Hope International, Guardian General Barrouallie and South Leeward Unified are in Group B.

Six matches are carded for the opening day at the tournament venue, the Calliaqua Playing Field.

Kicking things Largo Height play Richmond Hill at 11:00 a.m; Layou and South Leeward Unified meet from 12:00 (noon), then from 1:00 p.m, Vintage Gold take on Calliaqua.

From 2:00 p.m, International meet Barrouallie; Largo Height and Sion Hill face off from 3:00 p.m; and from 4:00 p.m, Layou meet Old Boyz.

In the format the two top teams emerging from the group stage advance to the play-offs or semifinals. The winners of the semifinals meet in the final; while the losers compete for the third and fourth spots.

The remaining teams will engage in knock out play to determine the plate winner.

The winning team in the play-offs gets $1,200; second place- $600 and third- $300.

The plate winner pockets $300.

Matches in the tournament are scheduled for Sundays only.
