Greene and Dabriel set records at ASATT

Kennice Greene and Hazen Dabriel, were in record breaking form at the 2024 staging of the Aquatic Sports Association of Trinidad and Tobago (ASATT) Invitational Swimming Championships at the National Aquatic Centre in Balmain, Couva, from December 11 -15.

Representing the Black Sand Swim Squad, Greene thus set new St Vincent and the Grenadines national open records in the 50m and 100m Backstroke, and the 100m Freestyle.

The 50m Backstroke record now stands at 33.10s, as Greene shaved off 0.01s from the old mark she had set.

Likewise, she broke her own 100m Freestyle record with a time of 1:00.56, down from 1:01.09, and also shattered Shne Joachim’s 1:12.49 time in the 100m Backstroke establishing a new time of 1:11.82.

Greene also lowered the times in the 200m Backstroke, the 50m and 100m Butterfly.

The 200m Backstroke record is now 2:40.44, with the previous being 2:47.26; while the new 50m Butterfly time is 28:96, down from 29.15s.

Meanwhile, the 100m Butterfly newest effort is 1:06.80, erasing the previous record of 1:07.38.

Hazen Dabriel entered the record books by taking off more than three seconds from the 13-14 Male 200m

Freestyle with a clocking of 2:08.51, breaking the old mark of 2:11. 53.

Entonique Leonard, Jadon Hamilton and Zane Dabriel, were the other Vincentian swimmers who participated in the event.

Leonard of the Black Sands Swim Squad, pouched silver medals in the 13-14 Female 50m and 100m

Breaststroke, and copped bronze in the 200m Breaststroke, the 50m Butterfly, as well as the 50m and 400m Freestyle.

Hamilton, of the Blue Marlins Swim Club earned silver medals in the 11-12 Male 50m Butterfly and 50m Breaststroke, and bronze in the 100m Freestyle, 100m Breaststroke, and 200m Individual Medley.

The youthful Zane Dabriel who swam in the Male 8 and Under, was unable to make the podium in his three events- the 50m Backstroke, the 50m Breaststroke and 100m Freestyle.
