Walvaroo City makes mark in TBPO Nine-A-Side football

After Winning the Biabou League, first timers to the Coreas Distribution Limited/ Comsports TBPO Nine- A- Side Football Competition, Walvaroo City, has made their mark on the 2024 edition.

They were crowned champions last Sunday, July 14, 2024, when they defeated Experience One in a lopsided final at the Dauphine Playing Field.

Four goals from Chad Haynes, and a brace from captain, Dorian Dallaway, inspired Walvaroo City to a 6-2 win over Experience who also were the losing finalist in the competition last year.

Javid Sutherland and Rickron Bradshaw, netted the consolation goals for the runners-up.Walvaroo City thus earned $2000 and the championship trophy, while Experience One got a trophy and $1000.

Displaced champions, Catalans, docked in third gaining a trophy and $750.The other award went to Hill Top Ballers who were adjudged the Most Disciplined Team.

When the TBPO competition commenced in 2018, Catalans were the inaugural winners; they retained the title in 2019. There was no competition in 2020, 2021 and 2022, but Catalans took the title when the competition resumed in 2023.

Twenty one teams competed in the 2024 edition of the championships.
