No winner in Marriaqua T/10 Inaugural Softball Cricket Competition

The inclemency of the weather on Sunday July 7, 2024, resulted in the finals of the first ever Hairoun/ C- Unique Painters Marriaqua T/10 Softball Cricket Competition being aborted with no winner declared.

As a consequence, the $2500 winner cash prize was shared equally between the two finalists – Cane End and Fairbaine United. Third place, Glenside took $500.

Despite the aborted final in the inaugural competition, the top performers were rewarded.

Taking the MVP award was Fairbaine’s Glendon James, who scored 212 runs and scalped 7 wickets. He thus collected $100, and a trophy.

Sunil Ambris of Downstreet, scored the most runs- 265; Lee Neil of Glenside took the most wickets -10; while Delia Diamond of Glenside was adjudged the Female Player of the competition ;and Roderick John of Glenside, named the Police Officer of the competition.

Apart from their tokens, each of the four received $50. Organisers also rewarded the MVP of each of the matches played, and they received complimentary beverages from the St Vincent Brewery Limited. Ten teams sought honours in the inaugural competition with all matches being played at the Cane End Playing Field.
