Shafiqua Maloney lowers 800m record again

Shafiqua Maloney timed 1:59.31 at the Edwin Moses Legends Meet on May 31, 2024, to record her best time in the Women’s 800m, and lower her own St Vincent and the Grenadines all-time outdoor record.

Maloney’s time saw her crossing the line first at the Edwin Moses Track Morehouse College , B.T Harvey Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

On May 18, 2024, she reset the two- lap best time to a 1:59.77 clocking at the USATF Los Angeles Grand Prix, Drake Stadium, in Los Angeles, California.

Before that, on August 4, 2023, Maloney had shattered the national record at the Ed Murphey Classic in Memphis Tennessee, when she timed 1:59.94.

A multiple record holder, Maloney also holds the St Vincent and the Grenadines 800m indoor record, and the 1500m outdoor.

Collectively with Annecia Richards, Zita Vincent, and Tamara Woodley, Maloney is among the custodians of the St Vincent and the Grenadines 4 x 400m record.
