Vincy Masters Squash players excel in Barbados tourney

The Vincentian trio of Othneil Kevin Bailey, Roy De Freitas and Keith Boyea, left their mark on the BCQS International Barbados Masters Squash Tournament held May 21 to 26, 2024, at the Barbados Squash Club.

Bailey topped the list of achievements as he was one win away from taking the 35- 44 Men’s title, but was beaten by Barbadian, Shawn Simpson 11- 8, 11-5, 11-6.

En route to the finals, he had 3-0 wins over Steven Miller, Gavin Cumberbatch, Muhammed Kashif and Nick Shepherd.

For Roy De Freitas, the St Vincent and the Grenadines number one masters player, his sojourn in the

Male 45- 54 age group ended with him taking the Consolation Plate final when he outpointed Canadian, Robert Maxwell 11-7, 11-2, 11-0 in the final.

De Freitas thus ended the tournament with 3 wins and 1 loss.

And, in the Men’s Over- 65 age category, Boyea reached the Consolation Plate final, but lost to Barbados’ Leon Truss in straight sets, 8-11, 3-11, 4-11.
