Two gold pouched at Cayman Islands Bocce Competition

The Vincentian duo of Utica Smith and Natasha Doyle earned a gold medal in the doubles format, while Smith gained a gold in the singles, at the inaugural Regional Caribbean Bocce Competition, hosted by Special Olympics Cayman Islands, May 24-26, 2024.

Smith and Doyle champed the Division One Doubles, with a 13-6 score-line, with Smith claiming her individual gold in a close duel against her Aruban counterpart.

Recounting her individual gold medal win, Smith said she prevailed thanks to hard work, as she was able to focus on her game.

Pleased with the team’s efforts, head coach, Helen Ashton said : “They played very well, and while they had a bit of challenges in terms of the strong opponents…they however, were in the doubles able to stay focussed, work together, concentrate and move forward and achieve the aim of them getting a gold”.

Special Olympic SVG was among 17 countries in the Caribbean and the USA, that were part of the inaugural competition.
