AIA lifts off with Small Goal Football Title

After losing to RSVG Police in the final of the 2023 edition of the Comsports Business Houses Seven-A- Side Small Goal Football Competition, Argyle International Airport (AIA), went one up in 2024.

AIA’s moment of glory came last Sunday night, April 28, 2024 at the Comsports facility, where they defeated Coreas Distribution Limited in the final.

A second half strike from Jshan Bibby, gave AIA the title, bragging rights, $1200, a trophy, as well as two cases of beverage.

Runner-up, Coreas Distribution Limited earned themselves a trophy, $800, and a case of beverage.

Taking the third place was Sunrise Ballers, who defeated ED Laynes 2-1 in the play-off that preceded Sunday’s grand finale.

When the semifinals served off on Friday, April 26, 2024, AIA had a 1-nil win over ED Sunrise Ballers, while Coreas Distribution Limited saw off ED Laynes 1-0 on penalties, after both teams had played to a stalemate in regulation, plus extra time.

Coreas Distribution Limited’s Jabarri Cunningham was named the Most Valuable Player of the competition.

There were separate MVPs for each of the 12 competing teams, while AIA and Coreas Distribution Limited, got trophies for winning their respective groups in the preliminary round.

CWSA were the inaugural winners in 2022.
