Charles and Thomas the top Vincentian performers with bat and ball

Jorden Charles and Zack Thomas were the top performers for St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) during the recent Winlott/Windward Islands Under-15 cricket tournament, which was played in St Vincent and the Grenadines, December 12 – 17, 2023.

Charles finished with an aggregate of 56 runs from three matches, with a highest score of 28, which placed him fifth overall in the batting statistics.

Thomas had the best bowling average of 5.78, an economy rate of 2.42, had one five-wicket haul when he took five for 29 against Grenada on December 15, 2023 at the Park Hill Playing Field. He also had a haul of nine wickets in the tournament, which tied him for the most wickets with Aravinda Bishop of Grenada.

Zack Thomas, along with Alston Bobb Jr, came to prominence in 2020 when they debuted for the SVG national Under-15 cricket team as 10 year olds, in the 2020 Winlott/Windward Islands Under-15 cricket tournament which was contested in SVG.

Other Vincentian notable performers with the bat were Cody Slater eighth in the batting with 45 runs with an average of 15 and a top score of 32, and Zack Thomas 13th in the batting with 36 runs at an average of 12, with a top score of 28.

Juarez Baptiste with 4 wickets, Jorden Charles 3, and Delroy Little with 2 were the other top Vincentian performers with the ball. SVG finished in the cellar position behind third placed Saint Lucia, second placed Grenada, and 2023 champions Dominica.
