The Barbados Short Course Swimming Championships took place from December 6 – 10, with Kione Deshong representing the Black Sands Swim Squad of St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) in the boys 9-10 age group category.

Having spent the last 12 months in a specialist training program, Deshong delivered record breaking performances.

He brought back six gold, three silver and two bronze medals and whilst doing so, smashed five SVG National records.

Also attending the meet were swimmers Tayeah St Hilaire and Saj Caesar from Blue Marlins Swimming Club of SVG.

St Hilaire won seven gold, two silvers and six bronze medals in the girls 11-12 age group, whilst Caesar swam in the boys 8 and under age group, winning two bronze medals and setting personal best times in all of his races.
