Sion Hill Government holds special track meet

When the Sion Hill Government School held its 2023 Inter- House Athletics Meet on Wednesday, November 29, at the Sion Hill Playing Field, that event formed part of the school’s 60th anniversary celebrations.

The meet was even more special, as past student Dr Alphonso Linley, who resides in the USA, provided all the medals for those athletes placing in the top three of the races.

When the scores were tallied, it was Purple House, the 2022 champions that retained the title, amassing 709 points. Second was Green House – 664 points and third – Orange House – 616 points.

Taking the Victrix Ludorum title was Areal Clarke of Purple House.

There was tie for the Victor Ludorum accolade, shared by Jethro Fergus of Purple House and Tyler Ollivierre of Green House.

The Sion Hill Government School began its year-long Diamond Jubilee with a Special Thanksgiving Church Service on Monday, May 8 at the Arnos Vale Methodist Church.

The institution opened its doors on May 6, 1963.
