St Lucia champs Windwards Senior Super 50 title

St Lucia emerged victorious in the 2023 Windward Islands Super 50 Championship by defeating defending champion Grenada last Sunday, October 1, at the Sion Hill Playing Field.

Grenada, batting first, was dismissed for 142 from 36.3 overs, Johann Jeremiah led with 28 from 30 balls. Larry Edward spun his way to 5/17 from his 10 overs and Ackeem Auguste had 2/20.

In response, St Lucia needed just 25.1 overs, scoring 143/4. Ackeem Auguste struck 80 off 69 balls. Shermon Lewis took 3/ 19, inclusive of a hat trick.

In the play off for third and fourth places, Dominica defeated St Vincent and the Grenadines at Cumberland.

St Vincent and the Grenadines, batting first, made 181 all out, Keron Cottoy scored 58 and Gidron Pope 47.

Vincent Lewis had 3/29, Gilon Tyson – 3/37 and Kavem Hodge – 2/29.

In reply the Dominicans finished on 185/ 2 of 36.2 overs. Gian Benjamin – 64 and Kavem Hodge 63.

St Lucian – Shadrack Descarte was named player of the tournament.

Descarte scored the most runs – 187. Fellow St Lucian – Ackeem Auguste took the most wicket – 9.

Auguste was among three players who claimed the most catches by a fielder. The others were Ryan John- Grenada and Tyrel Chicot – St Lucia.

And, wicketkeepers – Gian Benjamin of Dominica and Sabinus Emmanuel of St Lucia, shared the spotlight for the most catches by a wicket keeper, as they both held three.
