North Windward dethrones Marriaqua in All Windward Football

North Windward is the new champion of the Hairoun All Windward Inter-League Community Football Competition.

Their installation process came last Saturday, August 26, at the Chili Playing Field, as Trezine Da Souza, Terrason Joseph and Davarno Sutton, with one goal each, led their team to victory over 2019 champions Marriaqua in the final.

North Windward thus reversed the result of the 2019 title match, when Marriaqua won 2-1.

Leading up to last Saturday’s final, North Windward tipped Calliaqua 6-4 on penalties in the quarter finals, after they both were level one goal apiece in regulation time.

North Windward then ousted Greiggs 2-1 in the semi-finals.

On the other hand, Marriaqua stopped Biabou 2-0 in their quarter final match up and saw off North East 4-3 on penalties, after a nil-nil stalemate in the semi -final.

North East however finished on a high, defeating Greiggs 5-3 on penalties in Saturday’s third place play off. Both failed to score in regulation period.

The presentation ceremony is set for September 10.
