Classic XI crowned Biabou Football double champions

Caesar’s Real Estate Classic XI trounced Biabou Top Strikers 4-2 on penalties, to lift the League title of the 2023 Biabou Nine A Side Football Tournament , last Sunday, June 18, at the Biabou Playing Field.

The match reached the penalties stage after both teams had played to a 1-1 draw in regulation time.

Shemar Wilkes gave Top Strikers the lead in the first half, but a second half header from Player of the Final, Tyrese King, brought parity to the final.

It was the second time in two days that Classic XI was getting the upper hand of Top Strikers.

On Friday, Classic XI beat Top Strikers 2-nil in the final of the Knock Out competition.

For winning the title, Classic XI pocketed $1500, a trophy and medals, while Top Strikers gained $1200, a trophy and silver medals. Cane End placed third, gaining a trophy and $1000.

Top Strikers’ Jason Hunte was adjudged the Best Defender and MVP of the Tournament.

Taking the Best Goal Keeper award was Elron Baptiste, also of Top Strikers, with Don Laborde of Cane End carting off the Best Midfielder accolade.

Osei Delpesche was named the Best Striker and the Top Goal scorer, with 13 goals.

Stubbs won the Most Disciplined team award.
