Taekwondo Association hosts inaugural competition
The Sport of Taekwondo is declared to be alive and thriving in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG). On Saturday, April 29, A2 Taekwondo Academy held its inaugural Taekwondo competition at the auditorium of the SVG Community College, Villa which saw 25 athletes between the ages of 5 and 19 years competing in two areas: Poomsae (Patterns), and Kyrugi (Sparring/Fighting).
A release issued on behalf of the organisers state that both parents and competitors were excited over the opportunity for skills and talents to be showcased. Taekwondo coach, Alex Alexander who has a 3rd degree Black Belt expressed his delight in the turnout of athletes and their performances. He said he was also very pleased with the support from parents and Taekwondo enthusiasts. “It takes a village to raise a child and a village showed up to see the children,” coach Alex said.
