National netball held for the first time at refurbished Chili Playing Field

FOGSCO Country Blazers defeated the GECCU All-Stars 27-14, in a Division three game of the Bank of St Vincent and the Grenadines National Netball Tournament on April 25, hosted for the first time at the refurbished Chili Playing Field, Georgetown.

It was one of two games played that day and was part of the rain affected reopening of the sport facility. It also was part of the developmental thrust of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Netball Association (SVGNA) to decentralise national netball matches as well as the programmes of the Association to communities across St. Vincent and the Grenadines once the resources are available.

FOGSCO Country Blazers, led by Giada Small with 17 goals from 31 attempts, and Jessica Lavia with 10 from 16 attempts, whipped GECCU All-Stars 27 – 14; while for All Stars, Diana Robinson scored 4 of 9 attempts, and Viniesha Harry 10 from 19.

In the second game, a male All Star exhibition match, the White All Stars defeated the Black All Stars 53 – 41, before appreciative spectators who stayed to the very end to witness some exciting play from among the better male and female netball players.

Among those in the audience were Minister of Sports, Frederick Stephenson and Raymond Ryan, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Sports.
