Four Vincentians on Windwards team for Windies Rising Stars Under-19 Tournament

Four Vincentians- Reshawn Lewis, Solomon Bascombe, Kirtney Franklin, and Divonie Joseph, were selected to the Windward Islands Under-19 cricket team to compete in the 2023 Cricket West Indies Rising Stars Under-19 Cricket Tournament, to be hosted by St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) in July 2023. The duo of Devonte McDowell and St. Vincent and the Grenadines Under-19 captain Luke Wilson, are part of the six-member reserve.

Reshawn Lewis scored the only century of the tournament – 137 not out from 80 balls against Dominica which included 11 fours, 12 sixes. Kirtney Franklyn was the only bowler to take a five-wicket haul- 5 for 48 in 8.4 overs- in the tournament finals against Saint Lucia; he also had the most wickets- 12- in the tournament.

The full squad is: Reshawn Lewis, Solomon Bascombe, Kirtney Franklin, Divonie Joseph, Stephan Pascal, Ackeem Auguste, Jerel Jeremiah, Kirt Murray, Tarrique Edward, Bolton Sayers, Jerlani Joseph, Kevin Gassie, Devon Tyson, Noel Leo, and Divone Joseph.

The reserves are Devonte McDowell, Shawnil Edwards, Kyron Phillip, Royce Paul, Theo Edward, and Luke Wilson.

Other top performers in the 2023 Windward Islands Under-19 Cricket Tournament were Tarrique Edward took the most catches – 8; Noel Leo who had the most dismissals by a wicketkeeper – 7; and Bolton Sayers who scored the most runs – 177.
