Shiv Chanderpaul to star in President’s team as VPL 5.0 reaches its zenith this weekend

Some exhilarating Cricket is forecast for this weekend as the Dream 11 Vincy Premier League (VPL) 5.0 T/10 Cricket competition climaxes at the Arnos Vale Playing Field.

Fort Charlotte Strikers, La Soufriere Hikers, Salt Pond Breakers, and Botanical Gardens Rangers in that order have advanced to the play-offs following the conclusion of the preliminary phase that concluded yesterday, April 20.

Strikers, with six wins and two losses finished on 12 points. Hikers and Breakers both ended on 10 points . The two registered five wins and three losses, but Hikers had a superior net run rate.

Rangers registered four wins and suffered an equal number of losses to tally 8 points.

As such, today Friday, April 21, third place – Breakers and fourth place – Rangers will clash in the eliminator from noon, with Strikers and Hikers meeting in the first qualifier from 2:30 p.m.

The winner of the Strikers versus Hikers match up, gets a direct ticket to Sunday’s final.

The winner of today’s first match faces the loser of the Strikers versus Hikers encounter. That second qualifying match is set for tomorrow, Saturday, from 2:30 p.m. The winner will advance to Sunday’s final.

Meanwhile, Grenadines Divers and Dark View Explorers will play on Saturday from noon in the fifth and sixth placed play-offs.

Divers ended ahead of Explorers on a net run rate as they each won two matches, but lost six in the preliminary phase.

Preceding Sunday’s final is the festival match featuring a President’s XI and the Best of the Rest.

Former Guyana and West Indies batter, Shivnarine Chanderpaul will be part of the President’s XI.
