Vincy Heat looking to scorch Rangers at Chili

St Vincent and the Grenadines’ senior men’s Football team, Vincy Heat, will be looking to make amends when they meet top Trinidad and Tobago club, Terminix La Horquetta Rangers in the second of two friendly internationals this weekend.

The two outfits will oppose each other on Saturday, March 18 at the Chili Playing Field in Georgetown from 3:00 p.m.

Vincy Heat lost 1-0 to Rangers in the first encounter played at the Victoria Park on Wednesday, March 15.

The first half ended without a goal despite both teams creating scoring opportunities.

However, Isaiah Lee made good on some poor defensive work by the Vincentians to calmly beat Josh Stowe in the home team’s goal.

Vincy Heat came close to making it 1-1, but Kevin Francis’ low right footer ricocheted off the upright and back into play.

It was Vincy Heat’s first outing for the year as they prepare for their away match in the Concacaf Nations League(CNL), on March 24 in Nicaragua, then the Bahamas here at home at the Arnos Vale Playing Field, on March 27.

Vincy Heat was slated to meet Barbados on the night of Wednesday, March 9, at the Wildey Astroturf, but a generator issue at the venue forced the cancellation of the match.

Before coming to SVG Rangers played against Windward Islands neighbours, St Lucia and Grenada.

Rangers defeated St Lucia 2-0, but lost their first match against Grenada 2-3, and drew 1-1 with the Grenadians in their second match.

Vincy Heat’s run in the CNL has not been a pleasant one, with only one point to the good, in a 2-2 draw with Nicaragua. They lost to Trinidad and Tobago 0-2, and 1-4, and went down 0-1 to the Bahamas.

As such Vincy Heat sit at the bottom of Group D. Remaining in League B will be the main goal of Vincy Heat, as advancement is out of the question.
