Georgetown and Central Leeward take secondary school road relay titles

The Georgetown Secondary and the Central Leeward Secondary Schools respectively, took top honours when the 2023 St. Vincent and the Grenadines Inter-Secondary Schools Road Relay was held on Wednesday, February 15.

The Georgetown Secondary School runner on the final leg, turned into the Arnos Vale Playing field where leaving the Central Leeward Secondary School’s runner struggling to cover the rapidly growing distance between them. The Georgetown Secondary School crossed the finish line in a time of 52 minutes 58.10 seconds, to win in the Boys Division of the Road Relay.

The relay was run over six legs from Peruvian Vale to the Arnos Vale Playing Field.

The Central Leeward Secondary School placed second in a time of 53 minutes, 25.00 seconds. Third was the St. Martin’s Secondary School in 53 minutes, 34.60 seconds followed in fourth place by the St. Vincent Grammar School in 53 minutes, 41.60 seconds; and fifth, the Troumaca Ontario Secondary School in 54 minutes, 46.20 seconds.

The Central Leeward Secondary School turned the tables winning the Girls Division of the 2023 Inter-Secondary Schools Road Relay, in a time of 1 hour,6 minutes, 25.20 seconds.

The Troumaca Ontario Secondary School emerged second in a time of 1 hour, 10 minutes 21.30 seconds; and the Georgetown Secondary School placed third in 1 hour, 15 minutes 9.70 seconds; with the West St. George Secondary School taking the fourth spot in 1 hour, 17 minutes, 19.70 seconds. In fifth place was the Girls High School in a time of 1 hour, 17 minutes, 45.80 seconds.
