Keartons chase double titles in North Leeward Football

Keartons will be looking to do the double when the 2022 Ruddy’s Electrical/ Hairoun North Leeward Sports and Cultural Organisation (NLSCO) Village Football Tournament concludes this Sunday at the Golden Grove Playing Field.

Fitz Hughes football squad were the first team to make though to the finals on Sunday

At stake on Sunday is the league title, when Keartons take on Fitz Hughes in the final.

Keartons en route to the final, beat Petit Bordel 4-1 on penalties on Wednesday, August 10, in the second semi-final, after both drew 1-1 in regulation time.

Wendell Cuffy put Keartons ahead, before O’ Jay Mathews equalized from the penalty spot for Petit Bordel, thus sending the encounter to be decided from the kicks.

First to reach the final, though, was Fitz Hughes, who on Tuesday, August 9, beat Sharpes 3-0. All three goals were scored by Dareem Pierre.

While Fitz Hughes will be looking to get the hand on the league’s top prize, Keartons has already placed the knock-out crown on their heads.

A Chavel Cunningham goal had given Keartons a one-nil win over Petit Bordel last Sunday, August 7, and silverware in the tournament’s first of two finals.

The closing and presentation ceremony will take place following this Sunday’s league finale.
