Police Two to wrestle with Saints in T/20 finals

Police Two will be looking to detain defending champions, Guardian General Saints when they clash in this Sunday’s final match of the Neil Williams T/20 cricket competition.

The two reached the title match decider after dominating their opponents last weekend.

Police Two, on Saturday at the Arnos Vale Two Playing Field made light work of Flow Rivals in their quarter final match up.

Led by a boundary filled 137 by Dillon Douglas, Police Two posted 230/7 from their 20 overs.

Douglas’ innings contained 12 fours and 10 sixes. Davian Barnum copped 2/41.

In reply, Flow Rivals were dismissed for 120 from 15.1 overs; Javed Williams, 39.

Nigel Small, 3/25; Darius Martin, 2/9; Romario Bibby, 2/32; and Dillion Douglas, 2/34 ensured an easy passage for Police Two to Sunday’s semi-final.

Taking on Keegan’s Bequia XI for a place in the final, it was easy like Sunday morning at the Sion Hill Playing Field.

Asked to bat, Bequia XI had difficulty negotiating the bowling of Benniton Stapleton, 4/4 and Romario Bibby, 3/2, and were dismissed for 48 in 14.3 overs. Dillon Douglas then struck 33 not out to see Police Two to 49/1 from 3.5 overs, winning by nine wickets.

Meanwhile, Saints had a six wicket win over Victors One at the same Sion Hill venue, also on Sunday.

Victors One made 121 all out from their 20 overs. Keron Cottoy, 50. Sunil Ambris snared 3/8 and Jeremy Layne, 2/21.

Ambris then hit 60 not out as Saints crossed the winning line at 123/4 in 15.4 overs.

Victors One went into Sunday’s semi-final following a 55 run triumph over Carlos James MSDA/Julius Anthony Northern Stars on Saturday at Sion Hill.

Atticus Browne who struck a polished 97 not out and Ray Jordan, 47 saw Victors One posting 207/4 from their 20 overs. Donald Delpesche had figures of 2/26, bowling for Northern Stars, whose reply ended at 152 all out from 18 overs. Donald Delpesche struck 46 and Tilron Harry, 35.

For Victors One, Ray Jordan scalped 3/7; Donwell Hector, 2/23; Luke Wilson, 2/24; and Solomon Bascombe, 2/25.

Sunday’s final bowls off at 2:00 p.m at the Arnos Vale One Playing Field.
