Peter Durrant to defend Cycling title in Antigua

Vincentian Peter Durrant will be going all out to remain as champion of the masters’ category of the Antigua and Barbuda Cycling Federation’s Three- Way Subway Invitational Championships set for this Saturday and Sunday.

When the event was last held in 2019, Durrant had bettered his 2018 second place, by standing at the top of the podium.

In winning the title, Durrant had a combined timing of 4:15.49, compiled over the time trial, criterium and the road race. He had placed third in the time trail, second in the criterium and first in the road race.

There was no championships last year, because of the covid-19 pandemic.

Durrant is part of a three-member St Vincent and the Grenadines’ masters’ team, which includes Martin Bollers and Desron Bynoe.

Meanwhile, the country’s elite representatives are Zefal Bailey, Cammie Adams and Albert Quammie.

And, Amber Glasgow will ride in the elite female category for the first time for St Vincent and the Grenadines.

The Vincentian contingent to the championships is completed by Shimano Bailey and Emmerson Holder, who would provide managerial and mechanical support.
