Windwards players to participate in VPL second edition
The second edition of the Vincy Premier League is set for November 7 – 11 at the Arnos Vale Playing Field.
However, each of the six franchises has been afforded the choice of one Windward Island player.
When the draft took place last evening at the conference room of the National Sports Council, inaugural champions Salt Pond Breakers selected Grenadian Ryan John as their Windwards player.
Others selected were Dominican Kavem Hodge, who will play for La Soufriere Hikers; Tyrone Theophile, also of Dominica, who went to the Grenadines Divers, while Emmanuel Stewart of Grenada, was snapped up by the Botanical Gardens Rangers.
Johnson Charles of St Lucia goes to the Fort Charlotte Strikers, while Dominican Allick Athanaze was drafted by the Dark View Explorers.
Each of the franchises has 13 players, 12 of whom are locals.
The first edition of the VPL took place in May of this year.
Like the first edition, players will be remunerated for their efforts.
