Troumaca Secondary to host All-Leeward Athletics Championship this Friday
The Troumaca Ontario Secondary School will be hosting the annual All-Leeward Athletics Championship on Friday, March 6, 2020, at the Cumberland Playing Field, from 10 a.m. This will be the fourth year of the championship and already it has become a fixture on the annual athletics calendar for the North Leeward community.
All the secondary schools on the leeward side of the island, from Campden Park to Petit Bordel, as well as two schools from Kingstown, will participate in the championship this year, an event which is usually streamed live on VC3 and reaches a local, regional and international audience.
The event has contributed much to the development of sports in North Leeward and has had a positive impact on the social and economic life of the area. It is, however, a very expensive undertaking.
Fortunately, this year The Republic Bank of SVG has decided to play a major role in helping to undertake part of the financial obligations. As a means of bringing awareness of this event to as many patrons as possible, there will be a Media Day, which will take place today, Friday, February 28, 2020, starting at 10 a.m. There will also be visits to three of the participating schools. They are the Bethel High School and the Central Leeward Secondary School, with the final stop taking place at The Troumaca Ontario Secondary School.
