Masters cricket final set for this Sunday

The SVG Masters 20/20 cricket final is set for this Sunday December 1, at the Sion Hill Playing Field, from 1:15 p.m.

Making a bid for a second straight lien on the title is Mustique Company Masters. But they will know their opponents in the final, following the semi-final, also on Sunday at the same venue.

This, when North East and Memorial Funeral Home North Leeward clash from 9:15 a.m.

Their semi-final, which was set for last Sunday at the Sion Hill Playing Field, was abandoned because of rain.

But some play was possible at the Arnos Vale One Playing Field, and resulted in Mustique Company Masters winning on a faster scoring rate, after a rain interruption.

In a match reduced to 13 overs because of rain, Mustique Company Masters made 106 for 4 from their allotment. Oneil Thomas scored 30 and Roy Baptiste, 25.

Bowling for RSVG Police, Osrick James had 2 for 16.

RSVG Police were 67 for 7 from 10.3 overs, when rain ended the match. Caswell Dorsette and Cedric Cupid, took two wickets each.

On Saturday, the semi-finals were contested.

Mustique Company Masters defeated North Windward by 93 runs at the Park Hill Playing Field.

Chadwick Carrington slammed 83, Nicholas Baptiste, 72 and Oneil Thomas, 61, as Mustique Company Masters piled on 245 for 3 from their 20 overs.

Brendon Child grabbed 2 for 41 for North Windward, which responded with 152 for 9 from their 20 overs.

Rueben Edwards scored 56 not out and Haniff Edwards, 23.

Bowling for Mustique Company Masters, Michael Charles scalped 3 for 16 and Roy Baptiste, 2 for 22.

At Arnos Vale One, North East beat Sion Hill by eight wickets.

Sion Hill made 92 for 8 from their 20 overs. Lauron Baptiste scored 29 not out. Joseph Carrington took 3 for 27 and Harvey Pope, 2 for 16.

North East replied with 93 for 2 from 14.4 overs. Harvey Pope scored 45 not out and Dyke Cato, 29.

At Buccament, North Leeward ousted A R & G Trucking Ptani by 22 runs.

North Leeward scored 158 for 6 from their 20 overs. William Edwards scored 41, Alphie Gould, 36, Nelson Williams, 26 and Orlando Charles, 23. Isaac Haywood took 2 for 26 for Ptani.

In response, Ptani scored 136 for 9 from 20 overs, with Alfred Mc Kenzie scoring 38 and Zenus Samuel, 33.

Alfie Gould, who took 3 for 7 and Nelson Williams, with 3 for 28, were the pick of North Leeward’s bowlers.

And, at Sion Hill, RSVG Police registered an eight-wicket win over Stanley Browne’s Stubbs.

Kissinger Mc Lean scored 54 not out and Micah Joseph, 29, which led Stubbs to 126 for 4 from their 20 overs.

Leon Samuel picked off 3 for 17, bowling for RSVG Police, whose reply was 127 for 2, winning off the last ball of the match.

Gosnel Cupid, with 81 not out, guided RSVG Police over the line. Neil Baptiste contributed 24.
