Bequia schools champed two of the four singles titles, when the Ministry of Education, National Reconciliation, Ecclesiastical Affairs and Information Table Tennis championships came to an end last Tuesday at the Old Anglican School building in Kingstown.
The Lower Bay Primary School Inc. won the female and male singles titles in the primary division.
Claiming the female title for Lower Bay was Camella Harry, who saw off Roshini Samuel of the Layou Government, 11-7, 11-5, while Pareeze Cudjoe beat Glenrick Hazell of the Paget Farm Government School, 11-9, 11-7, in the male final.
In the secondary schools’ category, Vedel Charles of the St Joseph’s Convent Kingstown won the female title, with Michel Creese of the St Vincent Grammar School, the male champion.
Charles had an 11-5, 8-11, 11-8 win over Derecia Michael of the Bequia Community High, in the final.
In the semis, Charles outlasted Shanecia Delpesche of the Troumaca Ontario 4-11, 11-8, 12-10, with Micheal ousting last year’s champion Leah Cumberbatch of the Girls’ High School, 11-8, 12-10.
Meanwhile, Michel Creese clipped the 2017 winner Caleb Howard 7-11, 11-7, 11-8, 11-9, in an all-St Vincent Grammar School final.
Before the two met in the title match, Howard bettered Mirac Creese of the St Vincent Grammar School, 11-9, 11-6 , 11-5, while Cresse outlasted Joshua Joseph of the St Vincent Grammar School, 11-8, 11-3, 11-2.
All four champions were also named the respective MVPs of the championships.
