2026 Richalnd Park Netball Competition Officially Opens

On Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 5 pm, High Park United came up against Hardknock Lightning Strikers, while on Sunday, July 26th, at 4 pm, S&D Success Netters and Handmade with Joy will face off in the Junior category, followed at 5 pm with 3JS Valley Strikers taking on Twin Ballers in the senior division in the  Island Sipz Richland Park Netball Competition 2026.

This year’s tournament, which blew off last Sunday, 19th, at the Richland Park Government School Harcourt, will see its first set of intense matches this weekend.

At the opening ceremony which was held on July 19, Chair of the Valley Sport Committee Geshelle Peters urged the players to remember the values that define the sport as she asked for continued support and patronage for the competition.

“Let us remember the values that define this sport: respect, determination, fair play, discipline and camaraderie. Let us remember the importance of fair play and sportmanship,” Peters stated.

She said despite numerous challenges, the Valley Sports Committee remains steadfast in its objections of promoting sports and culture in this part of the country and “seeks your continued support and patronage” as they try to once again pull off an exciting netball competition.

Parliamentary Representative for Marriaqua Phillip Jackson, in his remarks, spoke of the significance of sports in life and emphasised the role of community support in nurturing talent.

“Sports is an important part of life and living. Don’t underestimate what you’re doing,” he said as he reminded the patrons that Marriaqua has always produced stalwarts who have represented Saint Vincent and the Grenadines at the highest level.

“So Marriaqua has always been a place that has produced tremendous netballing talent”, he added while highlighting the achievements of netballers from the community.

Jackson also encouraged the netballers “to show up and play hard.”

“But in playing hard I also want you to also play fair, and I want you to have fun while doing it because sports is not only increases discipline, teamwork, community spirit, it also keeps you healthy, and keeping you healthy gives you a better chance of becoming the best person you can be” Jackson said as he thanked the community for their continued support of netball.

Also speaking about the strong community support was Coordinator of Sports and Physical Activities in the Ministry of Youth, Sports, Culture and Creative Industries, Roxel John,

“The people of Richland Park have always demonstrated a strong sense of community, and when a community comes together to support everyone benefits.”

“Community sports have the largest pool of participants, so do not just look at these competitions as just a sweat or a waste of time, but as the first and most important step to maintain good health, guiding the young people in the right direction, then being seen by club scouts and then further into national teams” John said, as he commended the Valley Sports Committee for organising the competition and extended thanks to all involved in making the event possible.

Before officially declaring the 2026 Richland Park Netball Competition open.

This year’s competition will be played in two divisions: Juniors and Seniors. The Junior division will be played in 2 rounds before the knockout

Eight teams are part of this, the 11th edition of the tournament, with matches being played on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays

The teams in the Seniors division are: 3JS Valley Strikers, High Park United, San Souci Netball Team, Hardknock Lightning Strikers and Twin Ballers

While the Juniors teams are S&D Success Netters, Vsport Youths and Handmade with Joy.

The competition closes on August 23 with a grand final.
