St Martin’s seniors win two in secondary schools’ football

The St Martin’s Secondary senior team has made it two from two in the SVGFF secondary’s schools’ competition.

When the competition began in earnest last Wednesday, St Martin’s edged out the St Vincent Grammar School, 1-0. Andros Dennie was the goal scorer.

St Martin’s seniors returned to the Grammar School Playing Field venue on Friday, to register a 2-0 win over the Thomas Saunders Secondary.

Netting for St Martin’s were Josh Anthony and Calvert Hooper.

But the St Martin’s juniors were not able to replicate their seniors, as they were beaten by the St Vincent Grammar School 1-0, thanks to a Kishawn Alexander goal.

This match was played on Wednesday at the Grammar School Playing Field.

St Martin’s juniors were swished by Thomas Saunders 5-2. Rasheed Wallace, with three goals and one each from Renson Sayers and Raphie Dickson, accounted for Thomas Saunders’ tally. Francis Murray and Kishawn Alexander scored for St Martin’s.

In other opening fixtures last Wednesday, Georgetown Secondary and Mountain View Academy played to a 2-2 draw in the junior division at the Chili Playing Field.

Symeon Joseph and Kevorne Clarke scored for Georgetown, while Stevan Pierre netted both goals for Mountain View.

At Sion Hill, Bishop’s College Kingstown beat Intermediate 2-1 in the juniors. Troy Peters and Vinuus Bowens netted for the victors, while Ryan Ellis scored for the losers.

In the senior game, Bishop’s College was again in winner’s row beating Intermediate High 4-1. Kyle Quashie hit three and Michael Smith the other for the Bishop’s College Kingstown. Roland Cadougan scored for Intermediate.

Central Leeward Secondary juniors and seniors beat J. P. Eustace Memorial.

Oryan Velox hit all three in his team’s win in the juniors, while Trivis Fraser scored four, with Shamal Ried, Mekyal Williams and Jamary Davis, scoring one each, as the seniors won 8-0.

Meanwhile, Buccament Bay and Troumaca Ontario played to a nil-nil draw in the juniors, but in the senior division for Troumaca won 6-0. Jahiem Pompey, Keshawn Charles and De’Andre Dowling, all scored two goals each.

Then at the Golden Grove Playing Field in Fitz Hughes, Petit Bordel beat Bethel High 4-3 in the junior match-up.
Emory Edwards hit two, Zalpheus Medica, one and an own goal, tallied for Petit Bordel.

The scorers for Bethel High were Will Daniel, Zimron Hunte and Imani Miller.

for Petit Bordel, as the senior match finished one goal apiece.

On Friday, Ari Charles led with a hat-trick, while Denerson Nero and Dario Fergus scored one each, to give the North Union Secondary a 5-0 win over the Emmanuel High School Mesopotamia, at the Diamonds Playing Field.

At Arnos Vale, George Stephens beat West St. George Secondary 2-1 in the juniors. Devon Fisher scored George Stephens’ goals, with Kevorn Lewis for West St George.

But West St. George turned the tables in the senior match-up, winning 4-1.

Cordel Strachan led the way with two goals, while Jamaar Cropper and Nazir Primus had one each, for West St. George, while Lesbert Clarke had the consolation for North Union.
