Three teams stay perfect in masters cricket

Reigning champions Mustique, along with former title-holders North East and RSVG Police, remain perfect in this year’s SVG Masters 20/20 cricket competition.

Mustique made it two from two, with a commanding 96-runs over General Hardware Pastures last Sunday at the Mustique Playing Field.

Mustique posted 144 all out from their 20 overs. Nicholas Baptiste scored 27, Colin Shoy, 26 and O’ Neil Thomas, 23.

Lennox Samuel, Leroy Spann, Alvin Hope and Marvin, all bagged two wickets apiece.

Pastures were shot out for 48 in 18.3 overs, with Caswell Dorsette taking 3 for 3, Eric Cato, 3 for 5 and Cedric Cupid, 2 for 6.

Also on Sunday, North East recorded a three-wicket win over A R & D Trucking Ptani at Park Hill.

Ptani made 138 for 9 from their 20 overs. Cassius Welcome and Isaac Haywood both made 26.

Bowling for North East, Olanzo Jackson grabbed 4 for 29 and Hollis John, 2 for 13.

In response, North East made 139 for 7 off 18.4 overs. Olanzo Jackson contributed 33 and Winsbert Springer, 32.

Ray Richards picked off 2 for 23.

And, making it four from four was RSVG Police, who gained a nine-wicket win over Kirk Da Silva’s La Croix on Saturday at the Sion Hill Playing Field.

La Croix scored 54 all out from 19.3 overs, to which RSVG Police replied with 55 for 1 from 6.2 overs.

The other two outfits that registered wins were Digicel Cato’s Heavy Equipment Glamorgan and Sion Hill.

They did so on Sunday, with Glamorgan beating North Windward by eight wickets at London and at the Cumberland Playing Field, Sion Hill defeated Memorial Funeral Home North Leeward.

North Windward batted first and scored 138 all out from 18.2 overs. Rawle Baptiste hit 41, Osborne Jordan, 35 and Garette Wilson, 24.

Bowling for Glamorgan, Mc Neil Morgan scalped 4 for 23, Augustus Mofford, 3 for 3 and Dexter Small, 2 for 18.

Glamorgan, on the back of Dexter Small’s 53 not out and Mc Neil Morgan’s 50 not out, reached 139 for 2 from 14 overs.

Meanwhile, Sion Hill got their second by getting past North Leeward by 28 runs.

Sion Hill posted 172 for 5 off 20 overs, guided by Bill Edwards’ 71 not out and Keyon Jack’s 23.

After a rain delay, the target was revised to 121 from 14 overs, but North Leeward could only make 93 for 9 from the allotment.

Arrington Burgin was the pick of the Sion Hill bowlers, taking 3 for 23, while Joseph Medford and Brian Davis each took two wickets.
