Mixed results for North Windward teams in TBPO softball competition

Owia Young Strikers and Hard Hitters won their matches in last weekend’s fixtures of the National Lotteries Authority Top Belair Progressive Organisation’s softball cricket competition, at the Dauphine Playing Field.

Owia Young Strikers breezed past Dr Thomas Injectors by 61 runs, in Sunday’s first match.

Hyron Shallow, who scored 31, Osneth Cato, 27 and Curton Lavia, 26, pushed Owia Young Strikers to 123 all out in 19.2 overs.

Bowling for Injectors, Wendell Corridon took 3 for 26, Kemold Thomas, 2 for 11, Kemron Williams, 2 for 29 and Tex Franklyn, 2 for 37.

Dr Thomas Injectors in reply, scored 62 all out in 18.1 overs, as Curtan Lavia snared 3 for 6 and Desroy Lavia had 2 for 19.

Then Hard Hitters beat Curtis King Stallionz by 42 runs, in a match reduced to a maximum 17 overs, because of a late start.

Hard Hitters scored 103 for 9 from their 17 overs, with Manley Duncan making 29, Erwin Williams, 21, and Colin Williams, 20.

Bowling for Stallionz, Glenroy John had 3 for 11, Azmon Forbes, 2 for 9, Bradley Richards, 2 for 15 and Jayvon Jack, 2 for 25.

In response, Stallionz reached 61 for 8 from their 17 overs, with Keniel Richards taking 2 for 3 and Kerwin Williams, 2 for 20, bowling for Hard Hitters.

But it was not the same for Sion Hill Tallawahs, another outfit from the North Windward area.

Tallawahs were beaten by Bank of SVG All Stars by 15 overs, in a 17-over affair on Saturday.

Kelly Murray topscored with 23, as All Stars made 99 all out in 16.5 overs.

Shamic Roberts scalped 4 for 41 and Marlon Baptiste, 2 for 12, bowling for Sion Hill Tallawahs.

But Kelique Samuel picked off 2 for 7, Lenroy Dalzell, 2 for 18, Desmond Bramble, 2 for 20 and Kelly Murray, 2 for 23, to see Sion Hill Tallawahs dismissed for 84 in 16.2 overs.

Saturday’s first match resulted in a win for Gairy Construction Simple Boys over Gomea bombers.

Reduced to 17 overs because of a late start, Simple Boys batted first and registered 118 for 4 from their 17 overs.

Stein Josepht struck 49 and Kentish Philips, 28.

Gomea Bombers were held to 102 for 8 from their 17 overs, hemmed in by the bowling of Keneal Skinner, with 2 for 12 and Stein Joseph, 2 for 34.

Ovando O’ Brien scored 24 for Gomea Bombers.

And, Bruce Law Chambers Smashers defeated CGM Gallagher Novice by 4 runs, as the two battled in an 18-over match.

Smashers scored 101 for 7 from their 18 overs. Renrick Peters scored 25 and Zimron Harry, 23.

Norlan Williams, with 3 for 9, was Novice’s most successful bowler.

Novice’s reply was 97 for 9 from their 18 overs.

Renrick Williams hit 22, as St Clair Dickson claimed 3 for 16, while Zimron Harry had 3 for 25 and Codi Jarvis, 2 for 16.
