The SVG Rugby Union elects new executive

The St Vincent and the Grenadines Rugby Union has a new executive in place.

This after the union held its annual general meeting last Saturday at the conference room of the National Sports Council’s offices at the Arnos Vale Playing Field.

Heading the union for the next two years is new president Leonard Matthews, replacing Sophie Goddard.

Kelly Glass is the vice-president, with Goddard taking up the roles as treasurer and public relations officer.

The secretary and league co-ordinator is Dellon Durrant, with Akeem Edwards, the team manager.

Kit Horne and Giles Garraway Jr. serve as recruitment officers, while media assistant is Leeza Charles.

The union’s fundraising officer is Melissa Johnson and Andrew Hadley is sponsorship director.

Sam Knights of Canada has been named the new national coach.

Among the goals of the new executive, are the re-establishment of female rugby, seeking new volunteers and sponsorship for the league, as well as the Get Into Rugby programme, recruitment of new players and the improvement of the standards of the national teams.
