Victors One double wins in 20/20 competition

Victors One registered two wins on the trot last weekend in the National Lotteries Authority Neil Williams 20/20 cricket competition.

On Saturday, Victors One had a 38-run win over French Verandah SVG Community College at the Sion Hill Playing Field.

Atticus Browne (57), led Victors One’s batting, as they tallied 143 in 18.4 overs.

Roxell John took 5 for 23, Aleon Caesar, 2 for 22 and Geron Wyllie, 2 for 29, bowling for the college team.

SVG Community College was dismissed for 105 in 16.3 overs. Romando Mars led with 45.

Atticus Browne had 4 for 2, Donwell Hector, 3 for 14 and Alston Bobb, 2 for 17.

Then, at the Arnos Vale Two Playing Field, Victors One outplayed Strike Eagles by eight wickets.

Strike Eagles scored 126 for 8 from their 20 overs. Ricky Hoyte hit 33 and Kevin Peters, 30. Travis Cumberbatch starred with the ball for Victors One, taking 4 for 23 and Norlan Williams, 2 for 20.

Chrisroy John lashed 6 sixes in his 52 not out and Atticus Browne, 31 not out, as Victors One responded with 128 for 2 from 10.5 overs.

Also on Saturday, Police One had a three-wicket win over New Haven North Windward Youths at the Park Hill Playing Field.

Batting first, North Windward posted 171 for 9 from their 20 overs. Veno De Souza scored 52 and Dillon Douglas, 32.

Bowling for Police One, Parnell Browne took 2 for 9, Vertil Davis, 2 for 24 and Renford Jack, 2 for 32.

In reply, Police One scored 174 for 7 in 18.2 overs.  Dion Bynoe hit 39, Selwyn Caine, 36 and Vertil Davis, 25.

Sealroy Williams was North Windward’s most successful bowler, snatching 3 for 17.

But Police One was unable to rekindle their form when they met Guardian General Saints on Sunday at Sion Hill.

Rommel Currency’s 50 was the topscore for Saints in their total of 170 for 5 from their 20 overs.

Anthonio Sutherland then struck 60 not out, but Police One could only reach 136 for 9 from their 20 overs.

Bowling for Saints, Jeremy Haywood took 3 for 25 and Jeremy Layne, 2 for 15.

It was also up and down for Smashers, as they were beaten on Saturday and won on Sunday.

On Saturday, FLOW Radcliffe demolished Smashers by 159 runs at Arnos Vale Two.

Kadir Nedd scored 45 and Richie Richards, 34, which saw Radcliffe to 190 from 18.5 overs.

Courtney Joyette bagged 3 for 22, Kirton Lavia, 3 for 51 and Marvin Harry, 2 for 43.

But Smashers were bundled out for 31 in 7.3 overs, as Asif Hooper scalped 4 for 15 and Rasheed Fredericks, 3 for 15.

Redemption, though, came on Sunday at the same Arnos Vale Two venue, as Smashers took revenge off Victors Two.

Ronald Scott powered 8 sixes and 3 fours in his 71 and Joelano Neil belted 6 sixes in his 48, as Smashers amassed 216 for 5 from their 20 overs.

Lionel Cumberbatch with 3 for 31 and Denis Byam, 2 for 58, got wickets in the carnage.

Victors Two’s response was 140 for 9 from their 20 overs. Roger Gibson led with 37.

Bowling for Smashers, Courtney Joyette took 2 for 13 and Curlan Thomas, 2 for 35, saw their team to a 66-run triumph.
