Rep your village Marriaqua football tournament opens May 12

The 2019 Marriaqua Football Association Village football tournament is set to open at the Cane End Playing Field, May 12.

Dubbed, “Rep your Village”, the tournament is expected to accommodate 16 teams, inclusive of units outside of the Marriaqua Valley.

Already confirming participation are Largo Height, Enhams, Fair Hall, Redemption Sharpes, Cane End, Richland Park, Glenside, Sayers Village, Gomea and Glen.

Organisers have planned an opening with a difference, as the two exhibition matches will involve Prisoners versus last year’s champions Brotherhood from 3 p.m. and the other will feature RSVG Police against Redemption Sharpes, and West Kingstown against Richland Park with a kick-off time of 4:45 p.m.

Apart from the senior competition, there will be an Under-15 competition.

The tournament will host one match daily, Monday to Thursday, with Friday being a rest day.

Double-headers are planned for Saturday and Sunday.
