SVG hosts sub regional TT tournament this weekend

THE WEST ST GEORGE Secondary School’s auditorium will be abuzz, this weekend, as the SVG Table Tennis Association hosts the inaugural OECS inter-schools’ champion of champions Table Tennis tournament.

Representative teams from St Lucia, Grenada and Antigua and Barbuda, will pit their skills against champion teams from St Vincent and the Grenadines.

Grenada’s male team comprises Vijay Valcin, Jade Patrick, Cedric Marquez and Shermal Williams, with Gennai Clovey and Anick Bonaparte, the female representatives.

Meanwhile, three males – Kenneth John, Nate John and Saneil Bernard and female players Juelle St Clair and Zarianne Anthony, will represent St Lucia.

Antigua and Barbuda will have three representatives. However, their team has not been disclosed.

And, host St Vincent and the Grenadines has a ten-member team, comprising two male teams and a female team.

Representing Team One are Akeil De Roche, Michel Creese, Antwan Tannis and Caleb Howard, with Joshua Joseph, Derese Nelson, Mirac Creese and Juwan Howard, forming team two.

Leah Cumberbatch and Tiarra Hazel make up the female team.

The tournament runs from today to Monday. An opening ceremony is set for Saturday at 6 p.m.

A team component and an individual segment will constitute the tournament.
