Challengers win again in Barrouallie softball competition

Challengers had a hard fought two-wicket win on Saturday over Hillview at the Keartons Playing Field, as the National Lotteries Authority Barrouallie softball cricket competition continued.

Hillview was dismissed for 82 in 19 overs. Keeno Matthews picked off 4 for 14 and Alex Jessop had 2 for 8.

Challengers then reached 83 for 8, to win by two wickets. Javon Searles made 28 not out. Deron Buntyn took 4 for 16.

Saturday’s other fixture resulted in a 43-run win for Black Sands Resorts over Buccament.

Black Sand Resorts scored 91. Reynold Quashie took 3 for 28 and Tevin Patterson, 2 for 27.

Buccament’s response stopped at 48, as Xavier Charles bagged 3 for 19, and John Miller, 2 for 2.

Sunday’s programme got off to a bad start, as Guidance won by default from Smashers.

Then it was a mixed bag for Dr Thomas Injectors, who had back to back matches.

Dr Thomas Injectors penned a win, by beating Warriors by 63 runs.

Batting first, Injectors made 135. Kirk Hamlett took 2 for 26.

Kemron Wyllie grabbed 4 for 11, Kesroy Ashton, 2 for 12 and Javon Bailey, 2 for 24, as Warriors scored 72 in reply.

Then the fortunes changed for Dr Thomas Injectors.

Questelles Police Youth Club made 79, batting first. Philbert Chambers topscored with 20 not out.

Bowling for Dr Thomas Injectors, Wendell Corridon copped 2 for 12 and Philroy Ashton had 2 for 12.

Dr Thomas Injectors’ reply was 75. Kesroy Ashton scored 25.

For the Questelles Police Youth Club- Carlson Hackshaw took 3 for 12 and Carl Thomas had 3 for 18.
